What
is an Automatic Labeling Machine?
No matter how
good the labeling system is that you purchase,
human assistance will be needed for certain
applications.
There
are three essential elements to an automatic
labeling machine, including a conveyer which
moves the product through the machine, the head
which applies the label, and an integrated
control system. Each of these three main
components is, of course, comprised of other
smaller elements. Additionally, there are a host
of options that can be included in labeling
machines, including bar code printers, power
unwinds to be used for feeding a barcode printer
or for extra large capacity jobs, Hot Stamp
coders, and verifiers which ensure that the
label is printed and applied correctly. When you
take all of the necessary components and put
them together in such a way that they work with
very little assistance from a human operator you
can call this an automatic labeling system. Of
course a human will still need to refill the
label stock, replace printer ribbons, and make
any necessary adjustments when you switch
product types. Beware of systems that claim to
be automatic but do not really operate
independently. Many systems may have all the
components listed above, but still need the
assistance of an operator to ensure they all
work together.
